Neurodivergence at Work – How to Use This Resource

This resource is designed to help neurodivergent employees, managers, colleagues and employers think more clearly about what helps someone function well at work. Rather than assuming that everyone with the same diagnosis will have the same difficulties or need the same adjustments, it encourages support to be based on the individual person and their actual working profile.

What to do with it

Read through each section and consider how it relates to your own workplace experience. Think about communication, organisation and executive functioning, sensory needs, changes and transitions, personal strengths, and the amount of energy you use to manage or mask at work.

You can use the sheet independently as a reflection tool, take it into a conversation with a manager or workplace support professional, or use it to identify areas you may want to discuss when considering workplace adjustments.

What it can help with

The resource can help start conversations about practical support that may reduce unnecessary effort at work—for example, clearer communication, written information, help with prioritising tasks, protected focus time, sensory considerations or greater preparation for changes.

Importantly, it also encourages recognition of strengths as well as support needs and highlights that appearing to cope does not necessarily mean that a working environment is easy or sustainable.

A useful question to take away from the resource is:

“What helps you do your best work, and what creates avoidable effort?”
