Food & Mood Check-In – What This Worksheet Is For

This worksheet is designed to help you gently explore the relationship between food, mood, energy and everyday wellbeing, without judging what you eat or turning eating into something that needs to be measured, controlled or labelled as “good” or “bad.”

What to do

Work through the questions at your own pace. Notice how your mood and energy feel, whether eating has felt easy or difficult, and whether you have had enough opportunities during the day to eat and drink.

Think about what has made nourishment easier and what has made it harder. This might include your routine, sensory needs, appetite, stress, tiredness, access to food, executive functioning, your environment or simply having a particularly difficult day.

You do not need to count calories, measure portions or analyse everything you have eaten. The purpose is simply to notice your experience.

How it can help

Using the worksheet regularly may help you recognise patterns. For example, you might notice that eating becomes more difficult when you are overwhelmed, that certain environments make food easier to manage, or that your mood and energy change when there have been fewer opportunities to eat or drink.

It can also help you identify what already supports you, rather than concentrating only on what is difficult.

The final question—“One supportive thing I can do next is…”—helps turn reflection into a small, achievable action. That might be having a drink, choosing a familiar food, preparing something for later, reducing sensory demands or asking someone for support.

This is about curiosity, nourishment and self-understanding—not perfection.
