Making Nourishment Easier — How to Use This Worksheet

Sometimes the biggest barrier to eating isn't the food.

Executive functioning, stress, low mood, overwhelm and fatigue can make all the steps surrounding eating feel difficult.

Use this worksheet to work out where the difficulty actually occurs.

Is it deciding what to eat? Shopping? Preparing it? Eating? Clearing up afterwards?

Once you identify the difficult part, consider what could be simplified.

Think about things you could prepare in advance and foods that require very few steps.

Visual reminders, routines and support from another person may also help.

Then consider what a “good enough” meal could look like on a difficult day.

It doesn't need to look like somebody else's idea of a complete meal.

Finish by choosing one barrier you could reduce.

Making eating easier is a valid form of self-care.
