Understanding My Body’s Signals
What to do:
Our bodies communicate with us throughout the day, but those signals are not always easy to recognise or interpret. Tiredness, hunger, thirst, stress, sensory overload and the need for movement can sometimes feel surprisingly similar.
Use this worksheet to begin identifying your individual body signals. Think about what happens physically when you are tired, stressed, hungry, thirsty or in need of a break. You might notice changes in concentration, mood, breathing, muscle tension, headaches, restlessness, irritability or energy.
Consider which signals you recognise easily and which ones you tend to notice only when they become intense. There may also be signals that you have learned to ignore because you are busy, caring for others, working or trying to push through.
You do not need to understand everything immediately. Building body awareness can take time. The aim is to gradually develop your own personal “body language” so you can respond to your needs earlier.
