LEFT OUT OF DECISIONS
It can be incredibly difficult when decisions that affect your working day seem to happen without you.
Perhaps a change to your role is agreed before anyone asks for your view. Maybe colleagues are consulted and you are not. Or you regularly find out about important decisions only after everything has already been decided.
Over time, this can leave you feeling as though your voice does not matter.
Being included in workplace decisions does not mean that everyone has to agree or that every decision has to be made by the whole team. It is about having appropriate opportunities to contribute, being kept informed and feeling that your experience is respected.
For some people, particularly those who find unexpected change difficult, being excluded can also create significant anxiety. Having information earlier and knowing what is happening can make an enormous difference.
In this guide, I explore what being left out of decisions can look like, how it can affect confidence and belonging, and practical ways to ask for clearer communication and greater inclusion.
You do not need to become louder to deserve a voice.
Your perspective matters, and a kinder workplace makes room for different ways of contributing.
