Preparing to return to work

Your reflection

Start where you are.

There is no right order and no need to answer everything. You can pause, skip a prompt or change your notes later.

This is not a test. You do not need to feel completely ready to use the planner. It does not assess fitness for work or tell you when to return; it helps you organise your thoughts for a conversation with people supporting your return.

1. What feels possible — or uncertain?

Notice what has changed, what is helping, and anything you are still unsure about.

2. What would you like to plan for?

Select any areas you may want to talk through. Your needs can change.

3. What might make the first days easier?

Think about one or two things that could help you feel supported, oriented or less overwhelmed.

4. What would you like to ask or agree?

You might want to discuss expectations, a review date, or what to do if the plan needs changing.

Example wording you can adapt

“Could we talk through what a manageable start might look like, including my hours, priorities and when we’ll review the plan?”

5. Choose one small next step

It could be writing down a question, arranging a conversation, or asking someone you trust to help you prepare.

When you choose Save, your notes are stored in this browser on this device. This standalone planner does not send or collect your answers. You can leave any question blank.

Your plan can change. Consider using your notes as a starting point for a conversation with your employer, occupational health team or another person supporting your return, where relevant.
