THE TOILET-CUBICLE RESET
When Five Minutes Alone Is the Only Way You Can Regulate at Work

Sometimes the workplace toilet is not really about needing the toilet.

For some employees, it becomes the only place where they can close a door, stop speaking, reduce sensory input, let their face relax or have five minutes in which nobody expects anything from them.

This Workplace Wellbeing resource explores what may sit underneath those hidden breaks.

The three-page downloadable guide looks at nervous-system regulation, autism and ADHD, sensory overload, masking, crying at work, social demand and why privacy can become so important in open or busy working environments.

It also asks workplaces to consider a bigger question: if the toilet cubicle is the only safe place somebody can regulate, could the working environment offer something better?

The resource includes practical five-minute reset ideas, guidance for managers, examples of alternative quiet spaces and workplace adjustments, and a check-in to help people identify the patterns behind their need to escape.

It also explores when occasional regulation breaks become a sign that somebody is struggling more significantly and when workload, relationships, bullying, sensory demands or the working environment itself may need attention.

Five minutes alone can help. But regulation should not have to be hidden.
