Welcome to your practice space

Some workplace conversations can feel difficult to begin. This private interactive experience helps you rehearse possible words, explore the effects of different responses and consider what might help in your own circumstances.

Important: This is a fictional, scripted learning simulation, not a live counselling session, real manager or professional employment advice. There are no perfect answers. You can skip questions, leave or return at any time.

Questions about practising workplace conversations

Do I need to disclose a disability?
Whether, when and what to disclose depends on your circumstances and the support you are seeking. This resource does not make that decision for you. Consider describing the workplace barrier and the change that could help. For specific employment rights or disclosure questions, seek reliable advice relevant to your situation.
What if a manager says no to an adjustment?
Try to understand the reason given, ask whether another arrangement could meet the same need and consider getting advice about your rights and workplace procedures. A refusal in a simulated conversation is not a prediction of what your own employer will do.
Are the conversations live or generated by a person?
No. The characters and dialogue are fictional and scripted. Your choices reveal prepared feedback and possible next steps. No real manager or colleague is reading or responding to what you type in this activity.
Where are my reflections saved?
Where browser storage is available, your notes remain in this browser on this device. They are not submitted to a live group. People using the same browser profile might be able to view them. You can download a summary, clear the progress or avoid writing identifying information.
What if I feel distressed or unsafe?
Stop or skip the activity if it is not helpful. For bullying, harassment, discrimination, threats or other serious workplace problems, consider appropriate professional advice, a workplace representative, a trusted person or urgent support when needed. A practice tool cannot resolve an unsafe situation on its own.
