Emotions & Eating

EMOTIONS & EATING

Food and emotions can become closely connected. This Eating Disorders workbook helps you explore that relationship without turning it into another reason for judgement or self-criticism.

Inside, you can identify the emotions that make eating harder or change your appetite, explore what happens before a difficult eating moment and map the connection between emotions, thoughts, physical sensations, urges and behaviours.

A dedicated section looks underneath the behaviour to consider what your body and emotional self may actually need - including nourishment, rest, connection, reassurance, boundaries, sensory regulation or professional support.

The workbook then helps you build a wider coping toolkit for before, during and after meals, while keeping recovery and individual treatment needs at the centre. You can identify what makes emotional eating moments harder, who can support you and when it may be time to involve a professional.

The final page brings your reflections together into a personal Emotions & Eating plan and includes recommended reading, UK eating-disorder support resources and a personal message from Space to Breathe Therapy.

This workbook can be used independently or alongside a therapist, eating-disorder professional, dietitian, GP or trusted person. It is designed for reflection and support and does not replace individual medical assessment, nutritional advice or eating-disorder treatment.
