My Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) Diary

I created this My Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) Diary as a gentle companion to the full Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) information guide.

Sometimes it is difficult to understand what is happening around food while we are right in the middle of it. A diary can give you a little space to notice patterns without turning those patterns into another set of rules.

Use the page to record how you are feeling, what happened around food or eating, what felt challenging, what went well - even if it seems very small - what helped you, and what you might need tomorrow. You do not have to complete every section and there are no right or wrong answers.

This is not a food-monitoring or calorie-counting diary. I want it to be a compassionate reflection space. A difficult day is not failure, and a small win does not have to look impressive to anybody else. Sometimes the most important thing you notice is that you needed more rest, more predictability, less pressure, a safe person beside you, or professional support.

You can print the diary page more than once and use it whenever it feels useful. Over time, you may begin to recognise triggers, supportive routines and moments when things feel a little easier.

Please be gentle with yourself as you use it. You are learning about yourself, not marking yourself. If your eating difficulties are affecting your physical health, becoming more severe, or making you feel unsafe, please seek appropriate medical or specialist eating-disorder support.

Warmly, Maggie
