My Eating Disorders & Neurodivergence Diary

I created this My Eating Disorders & Neurodivergence Diary as a gentle reflection space to accompany the Eating Disorders & Neurodivergence resource in the Support Hub.

The title of this diary reflects the commonly used term or area of difficulty discussed in the accompanying resource; it is not intended to give you a diagnosis.

When food, eating, body thoughts, routines or urges are taking up a lot of mental space, it can be difficult to understand what is happening while you are right in the middle of it. This diary gives you somewhere to slow things down and notice your experience without judging yourself.

Use it to record how you are feeling, what happened around food or eating, what felt difficult, what went well - even if it seems tiny - what helped you, and what you may need next. You do not have to complete every section or use it every day.

This is deliberately not a calorie-counting, weight-monitoring or 'perfect eating' diary. I do not want it to become another set of rules. The purpose is curiosity: noticing patterns, triggers, sensory needs, emotions, routines, supportive people and the moments when things feel a little easier.

A difficult day is not failure. Sometimes a useful discovery is simply realising that you were exhausted, overwhelmed, hungry, frightened, under pressure or needing more predictability. Sometimes the win is asking for help, using a safer coping strategy, accepting nourishment or treating yourself with more kindness.

You can print the diary page as many times as you need. If your eating difficulties are becoming more severe, affecting your physical health or making you feel unsafe, please seek appropriate medical or specialist eating-disorder support.

Warmly, Maggie
