RECOGNISING MY WARNING SIGNS

Noticing changes early can make it easier to seek support before an eating disorder becomes more difficult to manage.

This downloadable Eating Disorders workbook helps you identify your own early warning signs across thoughts, mood, routines, social life, food, mealtimes, physical wellbeing and sensory experiences. It encourages you to look at changes from your own steadier pattern rather than comparing yourself with somebody else.

Inside, there are dedicated reflections for what may happen before, during and after meals, physical signs that deserve attention, what trusted people may notice before you do and how you would like someone to raise concerns with you.

You can then create an early-support plan: when to contact a professional, who you will approach first, how to communicate when talking feels difficult, what may make meals feel safer while you seek help and what the people around you should take seriously.

The final page provides a reusable review, recommended eating-disorder reading, UK support routes and a personal message from Space to Breathe Therapy.

This workbook can be used independently or alongside a therapist, eating-disorder professional, dietitian, GP or trusted person. It is for reflection and support and does not replace individual medical assessment or eating-disorder treatment. If you are physically unwell, at immediate risk or concerned about rapid deterioration, seek urgent medical support.
