Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Eating is a non-diet framework that aims to rebuild trust with food, body cues and yourself rather than creating another set of rigid eating rules.

This full Space to Breathe Therapy Nutrition Library guide explores the ten principles of Intuitive Eating, including honouring hunger, making peace with food, challenging the food police, discovering satisfaction, respecting the body, movement and gentle nutrition.

The guide explains hunger, fullness and satisfaction without turning them into new rules. It also looks at food guilt, forbidden foods, emotional eating, flexible nutrition, supportive meal structure and body respect.

Dedicated sections explore how Intuitive Eating may need to be adapted for ARFID, autism and sensory needs, ADHD, diabetes, eating-disorder recovery and trauma-related difficulty noticing body signals.

There is a full personal reflection page, common myths, supportive prompts and recommended further reading, including the foundational Intuitive Eating book and workbook by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch.

The central message is that you do not need to become perfectly intuitive. Rebuilding trust can happen gradually, through enough nourishment, curiosity and kinder choices around food.
