The Recipe for Anxiety

A Gentle Reminder

A gentle reminder for the moments when anxiety makes everything feel urgent.

Anxiety can fill your mind with racing thoughts and make your body feel tense, restless or on high alert. This does not mean that you are weak or overreacting. Your nervous system may be trying very hard to protect you, even when there is no immediate danger.

You do not have to calm everything at once. Pause before reacting if you can. Place a hand on your chest or stomach, feel your feet against the floor and take one slow, comfortable breath. Look around and remind yourself: I am here. I am not in trouble. I can take this one moment at a time.

Please keep The Recipe for Anxiety somewhere you can easily find it - or pop it on your fridge as a reminder to treat yourself with kindness. Lower the stimulation where you can, soften the lights, choose familiar comforts and let the anxious wave rise and fall without trying to outrun it.

You are not broken. Your system learned anxiety for a reason, and now you can gently help it learn safety. Progress is not about never feeling anxious; sometimes it is simply getting through the next few minutes with patience, care and one steady breath.

With warmth,
