The Recipe for Burnout
A Gentle Reminder
A gentle reminder for the moments when you have been carrying too much for too long.
Burnout can leave you feeling exhausted, foggy, disconnected or unable to manage things that once felt possible. This is not laziness, weakness or failure. It may be your mind and body telling you that they have been running on empty and need care, safety and genuine rest.
You do not have to push through or recover all at once. Pause where you can. Lower the demands, postpone what can wait and choose the smallest possible next step. Rest is not something you have to earn. Even doing nothing for a moment can be part of recovery.
Please keep The Recipe for Burnout somewhere you can easily find it - or pop it on your fridge as a reminder to treat yourself with kindness. Let today be about reducing the load, not proving how much you can carry. Warmth, quiet, nourishment, gentle movement and fewer expectations are all allowed.
You are not failing; you are depleted. Recovery may be gradual, and that is okay. Protect your energy, accept support where it is available and give yourself permission to rebuild at a pace your mind and body can safely manage.
With warmth,
Maggie Learoyd MNCPS
