The Recipe for Grief
A Gentle Reminder
A gentle reminder for the moments when grief feels especially heavy.
Grief does not follow a neat path or a set timetable. It can arrive in waves, sometimes quietly and sometimes without warning. You may feel sadness, anger, tiredness, numbness or even moments of relief. None of these responses mean that you are grieving in the wrong way. They are all part of being human and carrying a loss that matters.
You do not have to be strong every moment, and you do not have to rush towards feeling better. Let yourself take today as it comes. Rest when you need to, drink some water, sit somewhere safe or reach out to someone you trust. Care can be quiet and simple. You are allowed to need comfort and companionship.
Please keep The Recipe for Grief somewhere you can easily find it - or pop it on your fridge as a reminder to treat yourself with kindness on the difficult days. There is no deadline for healing and no expectation that you should simply move on. Love does not disappear; it often changes shape and stays with us in new ways.
Nothing about your grief makes you broken. You do not have to carry it entirely alone. Take each wave one gentle moment at a time, and remember that you deserve patience, understanding and support while your heart finds its own way through.
With warmth,
Maggie Learoyd MNCPS
