TIRED AFTER EATING?

A temporary dip in energy after eating can be normal. But when every meal seems to leave you exhausted, foggy or needing to lie down, it can begin to affect your relationship with food and your ability to get through the day.

This Space to Breathe Therapy resource explores some of the different factors that can sit behind post-meal tiredness, including meal patterns, sleep, hydration, stress, digestive symptoms and the nervous system. It also looks at why tiredness alone does not prove that a particular food is intolerable.

There is a gentle pattern-tracking exercise, practical ideas to consider and guidance on when ongoing fatigue should be discussed with a GP. The resource also recognises the additional care needed when someone has ARFID, sensory eating difficulties, an eating disorder or only a small range of safe foods.

The aim is to understand what your body is experiencing without turning every meal into another test.
