5 SENSES GROUNDING EXERCISE

When anxiety, panic or overwhelm pulls attention into racing thoughts, the five senses can provide a simple route back to what is happening around you right now.

This interactive resource takes the familiar 5-4-3-2-1 idea further. Rather than simply listing five things you can see, four you can feel, three you can hear, two you can smell and one you can taste, it encourages you to slow down, notice detail and discover which sensory approaches actually work for you.

The downloadable workbook includes:
• a guided 5-4-3-2-1 exercise
• visual-detail challenges
• touch and pressure prompts
• sound-location activities
• optional smell and taste activities
• a “Back to Right Now” orientation page
• a personal grounding card to complete in advance

The senses do not have to be used in a fixed way. People with sensory differences, ARFID, trauma histories, nausea, migraine or other sensitivities can skip or adapt any part. Grounding is about finding a safe point of contact with the present, not forcing yourself through uncomfortable sensations.
