Impulse spending can happen for lots of reasons, and it isn’t a reason to shame yourself. If it’s affecting your budget, adding something to a wish list and coming back to it later might create a little space to decide. And if waiting feels difficult, that’s useful information too, there may be a need or feeling underneath the urge.
I’m Maggie Learoyd, a psychotherapist, and I created this prompt to encourage curiosity about our spending, not judgement.
What might help you pause before your next purchase? Can you answer this honestly?
