My Sensory Check-In
The environment around us can have a significant effect on how we feel physically and emotionally. Sound, light, temperature, textures, smells, movement and the amount of activity around us can all influence our nervous system.
What this activity is for
My Sensory Check-In helps you notice what your senses are currently experiencing and identify anything that may be contributing to comfort, distraction, stress or overwhelm.
What you need to do
Work through the different sensory areas and notice what stands out to you. Consider whether anything feels too much, too little or comfortable as it is. You can then think about small adjustments that might make your environment easier to be in, where those adjustments are possible.
A little note from me
Your sensory needs don’t have to make sense to somebody else to be real for you. Something another person barely notices may take a huge amount of energy for you to tolerate. Comfort is a valid reason to adjust your environment when you can.
