Permission Slips
Many of us carry quiet rules about what we should be doing, how productive we should be, how quickly we should recover or what we need to achieve before we are allowed to rest.
What this activity is for
Permission Slips is an opportunity to challenge some of those expectations by consciously giving yourself permission for the things you may find difficult to allow without guilt.
What you need to do
Use the permission slips to write things you would like to give yourself permission to do, feel, need or leave unfinished. These might include resting, changing your mind, asking for help, saying no, doing something imperfectly, enjoying yourself or simply having a difficult day.
A little note from me
Sometimes we offer other people an understanding that we struggle to extend to ourselves. If you notice yourself resisting one of your permission slips, imagine what you would say to somebody you care about who needed exactly the same thing. You deserve to be included in the compassion you give so freely to others.
