Receiving Negative Feedback

When Negative Feedback Feels Bigger Than It Is

Sometimes the feedback itself is only a few words, but anxiety can make those words feel enormous.

This resource explores what can happen when constructive criticism becomes tangled with anxious thinking. Instead of hearing “there is something here you could improve,” we can find ourselves hearing “everything you do is wrong” or “you are not good enough.”

Inside the PDF, we look at why feedback can trigger such a strong emotional and physical response, how anxiety changes the meaning of what has actually been said, and how previous experiences of criticism, rejection or judgement can influence the present moment.

There is also a practical Two-Minute Feedback Reset, helping you separate the actual feedback from the story anxiety is creating around it, identify what is genuinely useful, and keep one difficult moment in proportion.

Something needing improvement does not mean that you are a failure. You can learn, adjust and grow without turning feedback into a judgement about your whole self.
