What Does My Body Need?
Our bodies communicate with us constantly, but those signals can be easy to overlook when we are busy, overwhelmed, disconnected or focused on everything happening around us.
What this activity is for
What Does My Body Need? encourages you to pause and check in with physical sensations without needing to interpret every sensation perfectly. It supports awareness of comfort, tension, tiredness, movement, hunger, thirst, sensory needs and other signals your body may be giving you.
What you need to do
Use the body outline and accompanying prompts to notice where you are experiencing sensations or changes. You can write, draw, circle, shade or use symbols. Then consider whether your body might be asking for something simple such as rest, food, water, movement, warmth, quiet, comfort or a change of environment.
A little note from me
You don’t have to be perfectly connected to your body to begin listening to it. Even noticing one small signal is a check-in. There is no prize for pushing through everything your body asks you to notice.
