AUTISM MUM SUPPORT - THE FEAR OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I'M NOT HERE
For many autism mums, one of the hardest future worries is not simply whether their child will become independent. It is wondering who will understand them if Mum is ill, unavailable, getting older or eventually no longer here.
This resource approaches that fear gently and practically. It looks at the huge amount of knowledge Mum may carry, how to build a wider circle of trusted people, how to create a useful support record, emergency planning, supported independence, siblings and future responsibility, decision-making and the importance of keeping the autistic person at the centre of their own future.
The aim is not to force independence or frighten families into planning decades ahead. It is to help important knowledge travel beyond one person and to build relationships and systems gradually while Mum is still there to guide them.
The full downloadable resource includes a support-record starter, practical information table, independence worksheet, emergency-plan page, future-planning check-in, UK support starting points and a personal Message from Maggie.
You do not have to prepare your child for a world without you by suddenly making them cope without you. You can prepare by building a wider circle of understanding around them.
