AUTISM MUM SUPPORT - WHEN YOUR CHILD'S MELTDOWN BECOMES MUM'S MELTDOWN TOO

When a child is overwhelmed, Mum is often expected to become the calm nervous system in the room. But Mum has a nervous system too.

This resource looks at what happens when Mum spends so long co-regulating, managing safety, absorbing noise, handling judgement and holding everything together that she eventually reaches her own limit.

It explores Mum's early warning signs, sensory and emotional overload, physically difficult meltdowns, holding it together in public and collapsing afterwards, what to do after snapping or shouting, repairing without drowning in shame, and why repeated overload may be a sign that the family needs more practical support rather than simply more patience.

The full downloadable resource includes a Mum early-warning-signs exercise, overload map, Before I Reached My Limit reflection, an After-the-Meltdown Recovery Plan for both Mum and child, a traffic-light plan, UK support starting points and a personal Message from Maggie.

Co-regulation involves two nervous systems. Mum's needs do not stop existing because her child is struggling.
