Dyslexia Word Detective – Crack the Clues
Put on your detective hat and investigate words in a completely no-pressure way.
Dyslexia Word Detective is a printable activity game built around clues, patterns and language puzzles rather than speed or scores. Players can write, circle, point, answer aloud or ask someone to read the clues. There is no timer, and asking for help is treated as part of good detective work.
The game contains ten different cases, including missing letters, rhyme investigations, word families, mixed-up words, hidden words, meaning matching, odd-one-out puzzles, sentence clues and sound clues.
The final activities turn the player into the detective by asking them to create their own mystery and identify the strategies that helped them solve the cases.
A separate answer and support page is included for parents, practitioners, teachers or other facilitators. It explains which activities have fixed answers and where different answers should be welcomed when the player's reasoning makes sense.
The focus is confidence, curiosity, flexible thinking and discovering helpful ways to work with words. It is not a dyslexia test, screening tool or measure of ability.
