AUTISM MUM SUPPORT - FINDING TIME FOR YOURSELF
“Make time for yourself” can sound simple until you are the person managing an autistic child’s needs, appointments, routines, sleep, school, sensory environment and everyday family life.
Finding Time for Yourself is not another resource telling mums to add an elaborate self-care routine to an already impossible list. It explores why taking time can be genuinely difficult, the guilt that can appear when you do stop, and practical ways of reclaiming small pieces of time without pretending every family has access to regular breaks.
The downloadable resource looks at micro-rest, reducing demands before adding new routines, reconnecting with your identity outside caring, making offers of help genuinely useful, neurodivergent mums’ own sensory and executive-function needs, and recognising when the problem is bigger than self-care.
It includes a realistic “time for me” plan, practical ideas for different-sized windows of time, UK support starting points and a personal message from Maggie.
You do not have to earn rest by reaching exhaustion. You are part of the family too.
