I Give Myself Permission to Cry
A safe space to release big feelings and let the tears flow.
Crying is not only about sadness. For neurodivergent people, tears can also come with sensory overload, frustration, exhaustion, change, rejection, relief, masking, grief, anger or simply having too much to process.
This supportive guide removes the pressure to explain or apologise for tears. It explores why crying can happen before words arrive, why emotions may be released only after reaching a safe environment, and how to respond with curiosity rather than shame.
Inside:
• understanding crying, overload and masking
• recognising body signals before tears
• choosing privacy, connection and sensory support
• a personal crying support plan
• a dedicated interactive Cry Page
• gentle aftercare and reflection
• a personal message from Space to Breathe Therapy
• books and evidence-informed references
The message throughout is simple: you do not have to hold everything together all of the time. Tears can be communication, release and part of the way a nervous system responds to what it has been carrying.
