I Give Myself Permission to Scream
A safe space to release what is too big to hold inside.
For some neurodivergent people, feelings and sensory experiences do not stay neatly inside words. Pressure can build through noise, demands, masking, change, frustration, misunderstanding, exhaustion or simply having too much to process at once.
This resource explores the urge to scream as a possible form of emotional and nervous-system release. It looks beneath the reaction rather than judging it, helping you recognise early signs of overload, understand what may have contributed, and identify safer ways to let some of that pressure out.
Inside the guide you will find:
- an explanation of overload, masking, meltdown, shutdown and deliberate emotional release;
- ideas for voice, movement, writing, sensory reduction and connection;
- a personal permission and release plan;
- a worksheet for identifying what happened before the urge;
- an aftercare and recovery plan;
- a personal message from Space to Breathe Therapy;
- books and evidence-informed sources.
This is not about telling anyone that they should scream. It is about giving people permission to recognise that their nervous system may be communicating: 'This is too much. I need something to change.'
