Recognising and Supporting Girls with ADHD — Pocket Size Guide
A concise companion for teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and other school professionals.
This pocket size guide brings together key ideas for noticing ADHD-related barriers that may be quiet, masked or hidden behind strong effort. It summarises how attention, organisation, task initiation, emotions, friendships and transitions can affect a girl's school day. It encourages adults to listen to the pupil, record neutral examples, notice strengths and avoid using one behaviour or checklist to diagnose.
Inside are practical reminders for making instructions clear, supporting organisation and transitions, responding to overwhelm, protecting privacy, working with families and agreeing one adjustment to review. It includes a short observation record and a simple plan for the next step. Practical support can be discussed while assessment is being considered.
This is the pocket size guide. The full guide is in the Courses section under Coaching.
This resource is educational information, not an individual assessment or treatment plan. ADHD assessment and support pathways vary across the UK; check current local NHS and education guidance.
