The Everyday Maths Adventure – A Fun Dyscalculia-Friendly Game
Maths does not only happen on a worksheet. It appears when we shop, catch a bus, follow a recipe, read the time, share something fairly, measure a space, manage a budget or try to work out how long something will take.
The Everyday Maths Adventure turns these situations into a colourful, low-pressure printable activity.
Rather than asking somebody to complete pages of traditional sums, the game travels through everyday settings including a shop, café, bus stop, kitchen, home and park. Players can use real coins, counters, drawings, fingers, measuring tools, a calculator or another person's support.
Activities explore money, budgeting, time, duration, sharing, estimating, measuring, planning and practical decision-making. Some challenges deliberately allow more than one sensible answer so the focus stays on reasoning and finding a method that works.
The pack also includes guidance for parents, carers, educators and supporters on making numerical information easier to access without creating unnecessary pressure.
There is no timer and no score to beat. The aim is not to make somebody perform maths quickly. It is to help them discover practical strategies that make everyday numbers feel more manageable.
This resource is designed for engagement and support. It is not a dyscalculia screening or diagnostic assessment.
