EMOTIONAL REGULATION WORKBOOK

Emotional regulation is not about suppressing feelings or trying to stay calm all the time. It is about understanding what is happening in your body and nervous system, recognising your needs and creating enough space to respond with greater choice.

This practical workbook takes the reader from understanding emotional regulation into actually working with it. It explores fight, flight, freeze and shutdown responses, early warning signs, body cues, sensory needs and the different ways emotions may communicate important information.

Inside the workbook you will find an emotional regulation map, emotion and body-signal guide, personalised regulation menu, pause-notice-choose exercise, trigger-to-choice reflection sheet, repair-after-dysregulation guidance and a weekly capacity tracker. It also considers neurodivergent regulation, including movement, reduced sensory input, fidgeting, pacing and other strategies that may look different from traditional ideas of “calming down”.

There is space throughout to identify individual triggers, needs and helpful strategies, alongside recommended books and trusted resources and a personal message from Maggie.

The aim is not perfect emotional control. It is greater understanding, earlier recognition and more choice in how you care for yourself and respond.
