Move Within Your Limits - Every Body Moves Differently

Move Within Your Limits

There isn’t one “correct” level of flexibility or mobility. Bodies differ because of factors including age, disability, injury, joint mobility, health conditions, activity levels and simply how someone feels on a particular day.

Stretching and movement should therefore be adapted to the individual rather than forcing the body to match a picture of a pose. A smaller movement is still movement, and using a chair, wall, cushion or other support doesn’t make an exercise less worthwhile.

Pay attention to what your body is communicating. New or significant pain, dizziness, numbness, weakness or feeling unwell are signs to stop rather than push through. Persistent or unexplained symptoms may need appropriate professional assessment.
