WAKING UP REFRESHED
A gentle guide to better sleep, calmer mornings and finding what works for you
Some mornings feel easy. Others can feel as though the day is asking too much before we have even put our feet on the floor. If you regularly wake feeling tired, foggy, anxious or overwhelmed, I want you to know that this is not a sign that you are lazy or doing life badly. Sleep, stress, pain, hormones, medication, sensory needs and neurodivergence can all affect the way we wake.
I created this gentle article to help you look at your evenings and mornings with curiosity rather than criticism. Inside, we explore sleep routines, gentler alarm choices, morning light, simple movement, hydration, accessible breakfasts and ways to reduce decisions when your brain is still waking up. There is also a five-minute gentle-start plan for mornings when you need something very simple to follow.
This is not about creating a perfect routine or becoming a “morning person”. It is about noticing what supports your body, making small changes that are realistic for your life, and remembering that rest is a genuine need. The guide also explains when ongoing tiredness, snoring, gasping, morning headaches or severe sleepiness should be discussed with a health professional.
You may wish to read the full article, choose just one idea to try, or return to it when your mornings feel difficult. Be gentle with yourself. You do not have to do the whole day at once - you only need to begin with the next manageable step.
With warmth,
Maggie
