Yoga for Chronic Illness

Living with chronic illness can affect energy, comfort, confidence and the feeling of being at home in your own body. Gentle yoga can provide a flexible way to reconnect with yourself while honouring the reality that capacity may change from one day to the next.

This is not about pushing through pain or doing more. The practice can be adapted with cushions, chairs, walls or supported floor poses. On lower-energy days, yoga might simply mean settling into a comfortable position, noticing the breath or making one small movement. Rest is part of the practice, not a failure to complete it.

Move slowly, avoid comparing one day with another, and stop if symptoms increase. If you have a medical condition, recent surgery, dizziness, breathing difficulties or significant pain, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional before starting. Yoga does not replace treatment, but it may offer a supportive pause in which you can listen to your body with kindness.

A gentle reminder: Work within your own comfort and seek individual medical or professional advice where needed.

Until next time, give yourself space to breathe.
With love, Maggie
