Yoga for Men’s Mental Health
What this resource is for
Many men feel pressure to stay strong, keep going and avoid talking about how they feel. This resource offers another view of strength: slowing down, noticing what is happening and looking after your mind as well as your body. Yoga can provide a private, practical way to release tension and reconnect with yourself.
Using the guide gently
The guide combines a simple 4-4-6 breath with Child’s Pose, Cat-Cow, Low Lunge, Seated Forward Fold and Legs Up the Wall. Start with a few minutes, adapt each pose and choose a quiet space where you feel comfortable. There is no right way to practise; the useful practice is the one that feels safe enough to return to.
An important note
Yoga can support wellbeing, but it is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If low mood, anxiety, anger, withdrawal or sleep problems persist, consider speaking with your GP, therapist or someone you trust. If you are in immediate danger or may harm yourself, contact emergency or crisis support now.
A supportive message from Maggie
You do not have to carry everything alone. Asking for support is a sign of awareness and courage. Move, breathe and be present—one breath and one moment at a time.
Until next time, give yourself space to breathe.
With love, Maggie
