TRAUMA & PTSD SUPPORT GROUPS - UK WIDE

This directory goes beyond the largest national organisations. It includes dedicated PTSD and trauma peer groups, smaller local groups, community support, online options and specialist routes for people affected by complex trauma, childhood abuse, violence and military trauma.

A key part of this resource is clarity. A general mental-health peer group can be valuable during trauma recovery, but it is not the same as a specialist PTSD or CPTSD service. The directory labels those differences so that people and families can make a more informed choice.

Local and smaller groups matter. They may be easier to reach, feel less overwhelming and provide the regular human connection that is often missing when someone is living with trauma. The directory therefore includes examples from Liverpool and Wirral, Scotland's small Future Pathways peer sessions, Cornwall community groups and specialist national or online routes.

The final section, “Before going to a group,” encourages people to ask about facilitation, trauma-informed practice, diagnosis or referral requirements, bringing a supporter, and whether they can simply listen at first.
