MY BODY IS GRIEVING TOO
Big Feelings Belong Here | Space to Breathe Therapy
Grief does not only happen in thoughts and emotions. It can be experienced throughout the body — in sleep, energy, appetite, digestion, breathing, muscle tension, headaches, restlessness, numbness and changes in sensory tolerance. My Body Is Grieving Too is a full 10-page interactive resource designed to give those physical experiences somewhere to be noticed and understood without treating them as weakness or failure.
The guide begins by helping the reader notice what their body is communicating today and where grief seems to sit physically. A dedicated release page — “I NEED TO SCREAM — MY WHOLE BODY HURTS WITH THIS” — creates space for the frustration, exhaustion and intensity that can come when grief is felt physically as well as emotionally.
The following pages explore body sensations, sleep and fatigue, appetite and digestion, tension, restlessness and sensory overload. There is space to recognise the first physical signs of a grief wave and the places, dates, sounds, smells or ordinary moments that can trigger a body response before the mind has fully caught up.
Rather than trying to remove grief, the resource helps the reader consider what might support their body: reducing stimulation, resting, eating and drinking in manageable ways, gentle movement, familiar routines, practical help and asking another person to stay close. Interactive fields allow each person to build a body-support plan that reflects their own needs rather than somebody else’s idea of how grief should look.
An important section also distinguishes between acknowledging physical grief and assuming that every symptom is caused by grief. Readers are encouraged to seek appropriate healthcare advice for new, severe, persistent, worsening or worrying symptoms and to seek urgent medical help when symptoms may represent an emergency.
