People with ADHD may be at a higher risk of developing addictive behaviours due to difficulties with impulse control, emotional regulation, reward-seeking, and dopamine dysregulation. Addiction can take many forms, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, gaming, shopping, social media, and other compulsive behaviours. This course explores the relationship between ADHD and addiction, helping individuals understand the underlying mechanisms, recognise risk factors, and develop practical strategies to support recovery, build healthier coping mechanisms, and improve long-term wellbeing.
