FRAGMENTS OF ME

When life feels broken and it is hard to recognise yourself.

Depression does not always feel like sadness. Sometimes it feels as though familiar parts of you have gone missing. You may still look like yourself to everyone around you while privately wondering where your confidence, energy, enjoyment, patience or sense of identity has gone.

Fragments of Me is a compassionate resource for those moments. Rather than asking you to “fix yourself”, it explores what it can feel like when depression affects identity, why the effort of appearing okay can be so exhausting, the private fragments other people may never see, and the grief contained in the words “I used to...”.

Inside you will find fuller reflections designed to help you feel understood, a personal reflection, the My Fragments exercise, a gentle one-fragment reconnection activity, and a section about the uneven movement from darker periods towards lighter ones.

The reading section contains three books selected specifically for this piece, with a short review explaining why each may be useful. There is also guidance about when a resource is not enough and further support may be needed, followed by a Message from Maggie.

You do not have to put every piece back together today. This resource begins somewhere gentler: noticing what hurts, recognising what remains, and allowing a little light to reach the fragments that are still yours.
