Jealousy
Jealousy can arise when we fear losing a relationship, opportunity, place or sense of importance. It may include comparison, insecurity, anger, sadness or a wish for reassurance. Although jealousy can feel uncomfortable, it does not make someone unkind or selfish. Like other emotions, it carries information about needs and fears.
This resource helps people look beneath jealousy before acting on it. The feeling may point towards a need for belonging, recognition, security or something personally meaningful. Honest communication and self-reflection can turn jealousy into clearer understanding without blaming, controlling or diminishing someone else.
Coaching tips
· Pause before checking, accusing or reacting.
· Name the feeling privately and identify the fear beneath it.
· Ask for reassurance clearly without demanding control.
· Turn comparison into information: what quality, opportunity or experience matters to you?
· Choose one action that supports your own values, growth or relationships.
Coaching reflection: What need is underneath the jealousy: reassurance, belonging, recognition or hope?
Until next time, give yourself space to breathe.
With love, Maggie
